Duke Gardens

We had such a nice relaxing Sunday with the family yesterday.  I have been wanting to go to the Duke Gardens since we got here and yesterday was the perfect day to go.  They are so gorgeous and the boys loved walking around and exploring everything.  They are so peaceful and it ended our day perfectly.  I just love my little family!

Luke kept posing on rocks and asking us to take his picture!

Washington DC

Since Remii in I went to DC last year (here and here), I have been wanting to take the boys.

For some reason I forgot all of the walking involved in the high heat and humidity.  It was so exhausting, but fun to see the sites.  "Uncle" John, Jeremy, and Remii took turns carrying Luke on their shoulders.  And we had to take a break in a nice air conditioned theater and rest our feet and see the new Spiderman movie.  Which was really fun.  And I wasn't expecting the movie to be as good as it was.  It was fun to have my sister there and we really had a great time!
Me and my sister left early and successfully got to DC on our own!

Ben took this picture!

When we made it to the Lincoln Memorial we were so exhausted!

Im not sure why I tried to do my hair.  The heat and humidity made it look like a hot mess!

Myrtle Beach

This was such a fun weekend!  The boys were with their dad for 2 1/2 weeks so I was so glad to get them back in Myrtle.  Life was just so boring without them!  Our hotel was right on the beach.  It was so awesome to just walk out your back door and be on the beach.  We spent a lot of time at the beach and the boys especially loved the pool at our hotel.  The hotel had 4 pools and one had 2 giant water slides.  It was such a fun vacation.  We were so glad to have gone and spend the time as a family and with friends!

Ben starts 3rd grade

I can't believe that I have a 3rd grader!!  Ben was so excited for school that he woke up at 7am.  We got to the school and went to the office to see who his teacher was.  The office couldn't find his name in the system.  Well come to find out you have to register online.  The principal gave me a paper and told me I had to drive to this building in Cary (25 mins away) and get a school assigned to him.   Sounds easy right?   Wrong.  I was feeling ok when I got there because I found it!  I was so excited I found the place.  But absolutely no parking.   Every spot was filled with a mini van and the line was out the door.  Picture your worst nightmare at the DMV but with tons of kids everywhere.  That's what I did for 2 1/2 hours!  I seriously contemplated ever having Ben go to school again.  Once we finally got him registered we headed back to his school.   He was excited to finally start.  His teacher's name is Miss McCommons.  He had friends in his class from the 2nd grade and he came home happy and said he had a great day!  I'm just glad I survived the day!  By the time I got back to the school I only took one picture, and even knew that it was blurry.  But sheesh!  What a morning!
